The Mitsubishi Eclipse was manufactured by Mitsubishi from 1989 till 2011. It was a sports compact car. A convertible model appeared on the market in 1996. This model was named after a famous racehorse from England which won 26 races in the 18th century. In general the vehicle was manufactured in four generations. The car shared the automobile platform and many features with the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser in the first and the second generations. The Eclipse shared a redesigned platform of the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Status in its third generation. In the fourth generation, the Chrysler platform was replaced with the PS platform.
