All-season capabilities combined with long-lasting treadlife, and fuel economy are something not every tire can offer. But the Michelin Defender LTX M/S hits the mark.

Featuring an EverTread compound, it does last long even in severe usage without sacrificing comfort, grip, and traction thanks to the proven tread design borrowed from the LTX M/S 2. Each tire features four main channels along with multiple lateral grooves, and 3D Active sipes to hustle water out of the way and allow you to drive through deep puddles without hydroplaning. With these units installed on your vehicle, you’ll get excellent steering response, superb cornering stability, and great braking performance, whether it is a dry or wet road surface.

MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
These look great on my High Country and give me a very smooth and quiet ride like I’m in a car. They work great in rain. Not tried them in snow or ice. However, their tread pattern design looks promising.

Awesome Tires for Pickups
MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
I replaced stock tires on my truck with these and they made the world of difference to my ride comfort. No kidding! They are probably the quietest tires I’ve ever tried. They stick like glue to the road on sunny days giving me excellent steering response. Cornering stability, braking, and acceleration are much better than I’d even expected. They also work well in rain. However, I felt they lost grip in snow several times. I’ve got 30,000 miles on them and it looks like they’ll last another 30,000 miles without any issues.

Worth Every Penny
MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
This is my second set of these tires. I bought them for the first time to replace my stocks which were too noisy for me. Besides, their tread was getting slim after about 20K miles and lost traction during inclement weather. These Michelins worked great for more than 65K miles and still have enough tread. But I live in Louisiana where rainfalls happen frequently all year round, so I don’t want to press my luck and replace them with new units.

Plenty of Grip
MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
I have had these tires for about a month and am very pleased with their performance on both dry and wet roads. No hydroplaning even in heavy rain! Hope they are as long-lasting as people say.

Smooth Ride
MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
I bought a lifted F-150 and loved its aggressive look with 35s. However, I didn’t like its pretty rough ride. Believe it or not, but I installed these tires on my truck and got a much smoother and quieter ride! They provide plenty of good grip on dry, wet, and snow-covered roads. I have about 20K miles on them already and their tread still looks great. Think I’ll get twice more miles out of them. Now I know why they are so popular!

A Nice Upgrade from My Stock Tires!
MICHELIN TIRES® - DEFENDER LTX M/S
I have a 2021 Grand Cherokee Summit 4x4 (WK2 body-style) that came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires which lasted me roughly 11,500 miles before they started to get edge wear and wore down to ~ 35% tread, which is disappointing. I didn't have many name-brand tires for my tire size, which weren't all-terrain. After reading the reviews on a few options, including this one from Goodyear, I decided on these ones. They definitely were NOT inexpensive tires, but everyone that I talked to that had these particular tires really seemed to like them, myself included. The only thing I wish that these had which others from this brand have, is one side with white lettering on the tires which I think looks pretty nice. These, unfortunately, do not (as I think some older ones of these did) but all personal preference on that part. To their credit, CARID shipped them on a Monday, and I received them the next day with free shipping. I hope these last a long time with how much was spent, but I am glad to have brand new tires that are much better quality than the stock ones that my Jeep came with. Pros: Nice quality tires Minimal road noise Soft, comfortable ride Excellent (70,000 miles) tread warranty Beefier than the tires I previously had They are nice-looking tires Cons: These were a good bit more expensive than some of the other options I had, but I've learned that you do NOT skimp on tires, brakes, etc. No white wall letting as I was expecting (no biggie, really)

Question:
Are Michelin Defender LTX MS tires good in snow?
Posted by Customer / January 19, 20232021 BMW X5
CARiD Answer:
These are M and S tires, so you can expect good traction on both groomed snow and mud. Although they are neither snow-dedicated tires nor branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol, they perform pretty well in packed and unpacked snow and even on ice. But surely, they cannot provide the same performance as the models designed especially for harsh winter conditions can.

Question:
Is the Michelin Defender LTX M/S a quiet tire?
Posted by Customer / January 19, 20232020 Chevy Silverado 3500
CARiD Answer:
These are quiet enough to drive on highways and city streets. Most drivers who have purchased and used them have only good things to say about their quietness.

No, they aren't. So you can rotate them in any direction.
Posted by CARiD Expert / January 19, 2023
Question:
How often should Michelin Defender tires be rotated?
Posted by Customer / January 19, 2023
CARiD Answer:
You should get them rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles or six months to ensure even treadwear for longer mileage.
Posted by CARiD Expert / January 19, 2023
Question:
What does M and S mean on this tire?
Posted by Customer / January 19, 2023
CARiD Answer:
The letter M stands for mud and the letter S stands for snow. This abbreviation means that a tire provides good traction in mud and packed snow.

Question:
How long do Michelin Defender LTX MS tires last?
Posted by Customer / January 19, 20232022 Ford F-150 Lightning

They are known for long treadlife. Surely, their mileage depends on a number of factors including whether you frequently tow heavy loads or not and whether you rotate them regularly or not. Your driving style also matters. Based on user feedback, it is safe to say that they last from nearly 50,000 miles to over 70,000 miles. Some drivers claim that they have got almost 100,000 miles from them.
