The Mercury Cougar was a range of automobiles offered by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. The vehicle itself was produced for eight generations. In its early days, the Cougar was a pony / muscle car, well, to be envied by everyone, of course. The early to late seventies models were offered as grand tourer coupes, typical of most automobiles of that era. The fourth and fifth generation vehicles were already offered as sedans and station wagons. Later on, in the eighties, these vehicles took on the signature look that we all know the Cougars for. Finally, the last model of the Mercury Cougar was a little sporty hatchback, on par with the likes of the Toyota Celica of the time.
