The Mercedes GLB-Class is a compact crossover SUV that slots between the GLA and GLC models in size. It is the automaker's first mini-ute to offer an optional third-row seat. Despite its compact dimensions, the new crossover by Mercedes-Benz can be a practical seven-seat family hauler and a reliable vehicle for those who venture into the great outdoors. The exterior design of the production version borrows heavily from the concept that previewed it, with boxy off-road-inspired styling, athletic proportions, and short overhangs. For its first 2020 model year, the Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 is offered with a sole powertrain consisting of a turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 rated at 221 hp and an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. Front- or 4Matic all-wheel drive configurations are available. The AWD system has several modes which vary the front and rear torque split ratio, allowing for a 50/50 distribution off pavement. Performance on rugged terrain can be further improved with the Off-Road Engineering Package.
