The all-new McLaren GT is not just another luxury sports car in the automaker’s lineup but its first stand-alone grand tourer. The newcomer was built to carry two adults and their belongings in comfort and at high speeds. Inspired by the 570GT, a member of the Sports Series, it is actually a two-door sports car with great cargo room. Successfully walking the line between luxury and functionality, the 2020 GT is claimed to be one of the most practical mid-engined vehicles on today’s market. It brings a bunch of sophisticated technologies teamed with a range of unique McLaren GT accessories from the get-go. This grand tourer is also claimed to have nearly 65 percent of unique parts under the metal that have been crafted especially for it.

Engine wise, the GT got a 4.0 L twin-turbo V8 capable of generating up to 612 HP and 465 lb. ft. of twist. In fact, the mill is a redesigned version of the V8 found in the 720S. The changes were sufficient enough to give it a unique design code: M840TE. It also got some new McLaren GT parts like smaller turbochargers that greatly increase its responsiveness at lower speeds. A seven-speed plus reverse SSG transmission is the only option. With such a powertrain, the car is extremely quick in acceleration. It can sprint to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reach 124 mph in just 9.0 seconds. McLaren quotes the GT's top speed at 203 mph. While the model isn't the quickest on the market, it's definitely one of the most comfortable ones. With bespoke steering, suspension, and braking systems, all precisely optimized for ultimate performance, the GT delivers a dynamic and enjoyable driving experience.

McLaren gave its new offering a cleaner exterior design compared to the rest of its sports cars. The GT also has a handful of unique accessories. The car features a carbon-fiber structure that is complemented by aluminum body panels. Thanks to that design, the 2020 GT has 20.1 cubic feet of total storage capacity, which makes it a solid choice for long trips. Inside, it coddles its occupants with lots of premium quality materials. While most of today’s luxury sports cars have lots of carbon fiber and wood used throughout the interior, the newbie from McLaren has none of them. Nappa leather is offered as a standard feature. However, it can be upgraded to a softer hide. In addition, cashmere is offered as a choice for those seeking for a vegan-friendly interior.
