The Italian automaker Maserati is known for production of powerful vehicles with expressive design of models' parts, combining both sport styling and luxury. The Maserati Quattroporte premiered as Maserati's first four-door vehicle in 1963. The "quattroporte" word is translated from Italian as "four door," for that reason the first four-door luxury sedan got its name. There are five generations of the vehicle. The fifth generation the Quattroporte made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003, and the same year it premiered in the United States at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The Quattroporte was designed by Pininfarina S.p.A, a famous Italian car design company that cooperated with such famous automakers as Ferrari, Cadillac, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, and Alfa Romeo. The car design is enhanced by advanced technological features that make the elegant Maserati flagship model Quattroporte even more desirable and unique.
The Maserati Quattroporte is available in the following configurations: the Base model, the Sport GT, the Sport GTS, and the Executive GT. The Quattroporte Sport GT version was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005. The vehicle came with refined interior and exterior parts, modified suspension, reworked exhaust and transmission systems, and 20-inch wheels. The Quattroporte Executive GT version was offered at the North American International Auto Show in 2006. Based on the Neiman-Marcus version, the Executive GT model came with ball-polished 19-inch wheels, alcantara suede roof lining, wood-trimmed steering wheel, and chrome side and front grilles.
On the North American automotive market the following models are available: Quattroporte, Quattroporte S, and Quattroporte Sport GT S. The Quattroporte features 4.2-liter V8 engine producing 400 hp. The GT S version, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007, is powered by 4.7-liter V8 engine producing 433 hp and accelerating 0-60 mph in 5.3 sec. The handling is improved by the revised suspension and larger rear tires. The brakes are equipped with iron/aluminum rotors to provide greater fade resistance. A new Quattroporte S version, unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, features the 4.7-liter V8 engine rating 425 hp, which is the same engine that the GranTurismo S model has. Maserati Quattroporte Automatica was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in 2007. The Automatica comes with paddle shifters as standard parts for the Sport GT model. Both 6-speed automatic and 6-speed DuoSelect paddle-shift transmissions are available.
The Maserati Quattroporte features strong personality that combines power and elegance. The Italian famous coach-builder Pininfarina provided the vehicle with stylish and striking look. The Maserati Quattroporte stands alone because it is one car that delivers on all the hype. Boasting more than enough punch to turn the asphalt into a playground with the road-gripping handling to back it up is what has made this car such a hot commodity. Muscle, style, and big-time performance make the Maserati Quattroporte one machine that never ceases to get crowd's attention.
