Also, the name was used in the Continental range in 1969, and a year later, as a special edition of the model while being outfitted with the top-trim interior package. In 1981, the Town Car became a separate model in the Lincoln vehicle range thus superseding the Continental as the flagship vehicle for Lincoln just as well as for Ford.
