Meet the most powerful Lamborghini ever built in the guise of the Sian, a hybrid supercar limited to just 63 examples. The newcomer is also the automaker’s first step to electrification. The Lamborghini Sian debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a huge amount of high-end tech packed under its hood, many performance-enhancing parts under its skin, and numerous uniquely-designed Lamborghini Sian accessories. First things first, the car adopts a screaming V12 engine found in the Aventador. However, it was upgraded with titanium intake valves to crank out a mighty 785 horsepower – the highest HP of any Lamborghini engine ever. The mill is teamed with an electric motor in an exclusive hybrid system for a total power output of 819 HP. An electric motor is capable of producing 34 HP and is incorporated right into the transmission which ensures immediate response and quick acceleration.

A world’s first, the automaker's electric system includes a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery commonly used in other electric vehicles. Compared to a traditional battery, it gives a threefold increase in power. To ensure an ideal weight distribution, it is installed in the bulkhead between the engine and the cockpit. What’s more, the entire electric system with all its main parts and related accessories weighs just 75 pounds, thus delivering a weight-to-power ratio of 2 pound/HP. The car also got many other power-enhancing Lamborghini Sian parts and systems to ensure a performance edge. For instance, it received the regenerative braking system. It is engineered to recapture much of the car’s kinetic energy during braking, store it, and then convert it into electricity, thus ensuring the supercapacitor is totally charged all the time. As a result, it can support both charging and discharging with the same amount of power.

Thanks to its capable powertrain and numerous mechanical tweaks, the new Lamborghini can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and top out at over 217 mph. That means the Sian is the fastest-accelerating model from the brand to date. It’s no secret that when speed means, enhancing engine power output while reducing weight and improving aerodynamics is the name of the game. So Lamborghini’s engineers did their best to make their new offering as slippery as possible by providing it with the tunnel in the roof, air inlets on the doors and many other aerodynamic solutions. As far as styling is concerned, this supercar is an unmistakably Lamborghini with the hood lines inspired by the Countach and signature Y-shape stylistic elements but clearly has a new futuristic design with many unique accessories.
