The Renegade name first appeared as a trim package on the Wrangler and the CJ. 2015 will mark the introduction of Jeep’s latest model, the Renegade. The release of this model to the general public will also be Jeep’s first foray into the subcompact crossover market. Developed from a concept car first unveiled in 2008, the Renegade will be available fitted with either a 160-hp, 1.4-liter turbo four engine with a six-speed manual or a 184-hp, 2.4-liter four engine with a nine-speed automatic. Jeep’s intention is to introduce a sub-compact crossover SUV that has genuine off-road abilities and thereby trumping the more city-oriented SUVs offered by Kia and Nissan.
