Product Details

SP Series Polished Silver Short Ram Air Intake System (SP7031P) by Injen®. The Short Ram SP Series is a traditional, underhood air intake system that takes the place of your factory airbox and air filter, and the factory air intake tube. The EA Nanofiber air filter allows increased airflow and the aluminum alloy intake tube smoothes the airflow path into the engine. The increased airflow and velocity results in more power, increased acceleration and better fuel economy.

Just because the Injen SP Series Short Ram is a traditional "underhood" system, don't think it's any less of a performance air intake system. The SP Series Short Ram is a product of the same rigorous development and testing as Injen's other air intake systems. It's made of the same quality materials and features the same high flow EA Nanofiber dry air filter. The air intake tube is made of 6061, T-6 aluminum alloy, for strength, light weight and smooth airflow. All connections are made with quality silicone connectors that provide flexibility, while maintaining strength and thermal stability. The stainless steel hose clamps provide a solid seal that won’t loosen or deteriorate. The end result is a quality system that will improve performance and look great under the hood.

Where the SP Series Short Ram differs from conventional short ram systems is the inclusion of Injen's patented MR (Mega Ram) Technology. MR Technology allows this system to attain increased intake airflow and performance while maintaining a safe air/fuel ratio. Injen steps down the diameter of the intake tube where the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor mounts, enabling the sensor to detect airflow within established parameters. The engine control computer can then maintain the proper air/fuel ratio and optimize horsepower and torque. Simply put, MR Technology tunes the intake system to avoid the necessity of recalibrating the MAF sensor, and prevents your engine from running too lean or too rich. With MR Technology, Injen created "The World's First Tuned Intake System", delivering optimum performance with a factory safe air/fuel ratio.

The SP Short Ram system installs in place of your factory airbox and air intake tube. It's carefully engineered, with CNC machined brackets and adapters, to ensure an exact fit. Installation is fast and simple and can be completed under the hood. There's no need to get underneath the car or do any significant component relocating. Everything necessary for installation is supplied, including comprehensive instructions. The SP Series Short Ram Air Intake System is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Good Product
Easy to install, sounds good, and makes a bunch of room for the engine bay. After installation, I did have a check engine light but erased it and it never came back. It has been a year and I had to clean my filter once in that time and still sounds and works just as it did on day one. Would buy again, and when I get a new car I will buy one for that as well.

Great Intake, Bad Mounting Point.
Vehicle: 2009 Chevy Malibu LT (2.4L). Received the intake on time, it looked great, and the install was going well until the final mounting step. The designated hole in the instructions was too close to the hood opening and it was virtually impossible to fit the air filter on. So with a little creativity I cut a piece of scrap metal and made my own mounting point, extending the space for the air filter to be positioned.

2009 Chevy Malibu ltz 2.4L
I originally ordered this intake from another website and a week later they refunded my money saying they didn't have it in stock nor did the manufacturer. I eventually made my way to CARiD and ordered it. They also did not have it in stock, but let me know that the manufacturer was going to send me it directly once it was made. About 3 weeks later I got my intake, just as CARiD said I would. Install was very simple to do, I also ordered new spark plugs and changed them when I did the intake. There is a big sound difference once you start getting into the higher RPM range. I also have 2 Solo-Perfomance mufflers and converted my Malibu into a dual outlet exhaust. Overall, I like the way the intake looks, and sounds and CARiD customer service is amazing. Thanks again guys!

Overall Satisfied
I received this product about 4 days sooner than estimated. It was pretty easy too install. My only two issues would be 1st the bracket on the airflow did not line up with my engine mount so I had to customize a mount for the air flow to attach to. 2nd, the air flow sets off my check engine light so when I go to get my inspection sticker I'll have to put my OEM air flow back in, and then replace it again after inspection. It's understandable due to the higher air intake but Injen should have created a sensor to install with the airflow to fix that. But other than those two things, it's a great product.

Know What You’re Buying
Like the title says, know what you’re buying. This means just because its a fancy tube does not means it’s a turbo and you will not notice any power gains from driving alone, on the dyno you might. Buy this if you are doing it for sound and engine dressing. It definitely makes your engine bay look better and it definitely makes the growl of the car more aggressive. It’s a great product for what it is, the bad reviews come from people that are expecting much more.

Extra Power
I just put on my 2018 Mazda 3 2.0 liter and I believe everything they say is true. More hp and and torque and better gas mileage. Really a quick installation and love the extra torque. The torque is what I missed the most especially at lower rpm. Great product.
