In 2013, Hyundai released the enlarged version of its i10 city car named the Grand i10. It is designed for drivers who value style, technology, and economy but need more space than the original i10 offers. The wheelbase of the Grand i10 is 3.9 inches longer compared to the regular variant, hence it offers a notable increase in interior room. Apart from a more spacious cabin, the model offers a number of new features, such as keyless entry, dual-tone interior, auto-folding outside mirrors, etc. For the first time in the segment, the car comes with rear AC vents and 1GB of internal memory to store music. The Grand i10 was developed for the Indian market, though later it was launched in other Asian countries and in 2014 it debuted in Mexico.
Originally, the Hyundai Grand i10 utilized a range of economical engines with different availability on different markets. The entry-level power unit was a 1.0 L I3 capable of 65 hp, while a more potent 1.2 L I4 producing 82 hp was offered as an option. The latter uses a Dual VTVT system to provide best-in-class fuel efficiency and ample performance. A diesel engine was available as well - it is a 1.1 L I3 good for 70 hp. In 2017, the new version of the Hyundai Grand i10 saw the world. It received a new, larger and more potent diesel I3 engine, this time displacing 1.2 liters and being rated at 75 hp. It was tuned to deliver improved fuel economy and more torque that now tops out at 143 lb.-ft. The range of transmissions remained unchanged – it includes a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic, though the latter is offered only for gas power units, which are carryovers. As for fuel efficiency, gasoline engines return up to 44 mpg with a manual and 40 mpg with an automatic, while the new diesel provides up to 56 mpg.
The Grand i10 offers modern, progressive and sporty styling featuring the cues of Hyundai's popular “Fluidic Design” theme. Elongated sharp headlights, unique-for-the-segment 2-tone alloy wheels and sleek wraparound tail lights provide a sporty and premium feel, while integrated roof rails and slopping roofline improve aerodynamics.
