Originally destined for use only by the U.S. Army, the unbelievably massive, go-anywhere Humvee generated a lot of public interest and in 1992 AM General produced a civilian version, dubbed the Hummer. The second generation Hummer H1 was introduced in 1996 offering an expanded selection of engines. The company offered the H1 in several body styles ranging from a two-door vehicle with an open hard or soft top to a four-door wagon. Standard in all models was a 6.5-liter, fuel-injected V8 diesel engine making 170-hp and 290 lb.-ft. of torque. A turbocharged version of the same engine producing 190-hp came as an option. AM General also offered a 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine making 190-hp and eye popping 300 lb.-ft. of torque.

Are you concerned with your H1’s rough idle and worsened fuel economy? Perhaps it is time to give your vehicle’s fuel system the treatment it deserves. If you have a clogged fuel filter in the automotive fuel delivery system, dirt, dust, and other solid contaminants trapped inside the filter may cause poor fuel flow, thus, greatly impacting your fuel economy and overall engine performance. Since various mechanical/electrical components make up your vehicle’s fuel delivery system, proper function of each of them will have positive impact on the performance of the engine.
