Electric cars are all the rage these days, and Honda can’t help but grab some share of the fast-developing market. The Honda E is the automaker’s first fully electric vehicle. It is conceived as a nimble city runabout, and with its ideal 50:50 weight distribution and rear-wheel drive, it promises some driving fun. The E’s blend of futuristic design and retro charm sets it apart from the rest of the pack. Honda’s urban EV has clean exterior styling with simple lines, old-school round lights front and rear, and blacked-out parts of the body, while modern touches like pop-out door handles and cameras that replace the side mirrors accent its high-tech nature. The car’s appearance has a great potential for further customization, and a variety of aftermarket Honda E accessories and parts offer virtually endless tuning possibilities.

At launch, the E offers a choice of two power outputs from its rear-mounted electric motor. Buyers can have it in either 136 hp (100 kW) or 154 hp (113 kW) flavor, with 232 lb.-ft. of peak torque. It is enough to reach 62 mph in 8 seconds. Juice comes from a small and lightweight 35.5 kWh battery pack which provides 137 miles on a single charge. A fast-charging system replenishes 80 percent of charge in about half an hour. The battery is mounted low to reduce the center-of-gravity height, and with lightweight yet strong materials used in the chassis, the car is expected to offer lively driving dynamics. A small turning radius of 14.1 feet promises easy maneuverability.

The cabin design of the Honda E is minimalist and futuristic. There are as much as five screens lined up in front for the driver to easily see all the important information. On either side of the windshield, there are 6-inch displays connected to the side view camera system. Another, located right in front of the driver, is a tablet-like screen for the instruments. Two touchscreens in the very center serve primarily to operate the infotainment. They replace most of the conventional buttons and dials, creating a clean, modern interior. Online services can be managed by voice commands via the intelligent Honda Personal Assistant. Owners can easily liven up the cockpit design and create a personalized environment with the right Honda E parts and accessories.
