Hitch Steps

Receiver hitches have to be built strong enough to tow trailers weighing hundreds to thousands of pounds. This strength and convenient access makes a hitch a versatile attachment point for bike and cargo carriers, bed rack extensions, and the hitch steps you see on this page. Our hitch steps will give you a boost to access the inside of a pickup bed or the roof rack on an SUV, and many can also do double duty as a rear bumper protector. Some steps can be flipped up out of the way when not in use and some are extendable, so you can walk right up into your pickup’s bed.

We offer a large selection of hitch steps, most designed to fit standard 1 ¼”, 2”, and 2 ½” receivers and secure with a regular hitch pin. Our assortment includes many shapes and sizes in a range of materials including composite, aluminum, steel and stainless steel in chrome, polished, and black powder coat finishes. Many are manufactured by the makers of tubular side steps, bull bars and grille guards, and feature round or oval tubes with treaded rubber pads for sure footing with wet or muddy boots, so you can have a step that matches the rest of your accessories. We also offer wide, flat galvanized steel hitch steps with a durable corrosion and abrasion resistant black finish, designed to perfectly complement running boards.

You can increase your vehicle’s safety factor with a hitch step that incorporates an LED brake light. We have lighted steps in several styles in your choice of chrome or black finish and instructions are included detailing the wiring connections to your vehicle’s harness. We’ve all seen hitch protectors with custom logos. Why not have one that also serves as a handy step? You can choose from a wide range of logos including American flag, checkered flag, and military service branches. When you need a boost, just flip the step down. Fold up when not in use to display the logo. We also offer non-folding hitch steps with custom logos and designs as well as several other style flip-down steps including large platform steps specially designed to assist pets that can no longer jump into a vehicle.

Instead of having to forego your step when towing a trailer, we offer a hitch extension that includes a convenient step. It has a 2” square tube opening for ball mounts and hitch mounted accessories. And if you go off-roading and need to occasionally pull out a stuck vehicle, we have several step/pulling options. One is made from tough hammer-forged carbon steel and powder coated in a high gloss black finish, for a great appearance and long-term durability, and provides a convenient attachment point for a tow strap, and the other is a combination tow hook/hitch step. It’s finished in durable black powder coat and the tow hook is rated at 10,000 lbs. We also offer height adjustable hitch steps as well as hitch steps with a fixed drop from the receiver opening.

Clambering onto a tailgate to get into a truck bed can be tough on your knees, and today’s tall 4x4 trucks can make getting into the bed even more difficult. With our extendable hitch steps there’s no need for physical stress and strain or the risk of falling from an unstable, improvised temporary step. We offer sturdy, secure steps that slide out from under the truck beyond the length of your lowered tailgate, so you can step right up into the bed. They come with up to 500 lb. weight capacity, some models incorporate large LED brake lights within the step for added safety, and on some models the step can be folded up out of the way when it’s retracted. We also have a side step that mounts to your existing ball mount, which allows you to step onto the tailgate from the side.
