Since 1998, the GMC Yukon Denali has been a leader in American luxury SUVs. Like the Yukon and the Tahoe, the Yukon Denali was originally designed off of the GMT400 platform, which incorporated a truck chassis. It was first developed to provide an answer to the Lincoln Navigator, which at the time was gaining a lot of attention. GM even took the Denali and called it the "Escalade" under the Cadillac marque, which created another success story for the auto giant. The two vehicles shared the same exterior including the lower side body panels. The Yukon Denali was also different from the entry-level Yukon when it came to the inside of the vehicle. The Denali's interior layout featured luxurious details such as heated leather seats, a wood grain dash, and a top-quality Bose audio system.
The second generation of the GMC Yukon Denali saw the SUV get moved to the GMT800 platform in 2001. The initial changes did not include many restyling cues to the exterior, as the Denali kept many of the same attributes as the ‘90s drew to a close. To distinguish the Denali from the entry-level Yukon some distinctive GMC Yukon Denali parts, such as 17" wheels, projector headlights, and a billet grille, were introduced. These changes helped the Yukon Denali when it came to marketing, as a younger demographic of drivers began to find the vehicle attractive. The Escalade, GM's other luxury SUV, was also beginning to carve its own niche in the segment. The second-generation Yukon Denali was equipped with a new 6.0L V8 capable of 320 horsepower. In 2003, it was increased to 325 HP and 20" wheels also became available.
2007 saw another redesign to the GMC Yukon Denali, except this time, more areas of the model were addressed than in previous years. Now built off of the GMT900 platform, the third-generation Denali engine was now a 6.2L V8 (380 HP) and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A rear-backup camera and power-folding seats highlighted the interior changes. Exterior modifications featured such GMC Yukon Denali parts as updated grille, chrome accents, rocker panels, and chrome headlights. In 2009, the engine got another power boost, as the 6.2L V8's horsepower was increased to 403 from 380. Since its inception, the GMC Yukon Denali has been considered a successful and reliable full-size luxury SUV. Thanks to its friendly pricing as well as its long list of driver-friendly amenities, the Yukon Denali provides a worthy opponent to the more expensive imports that have also been established in this segment.
The GMC Yukon Denali is that night out on the town where you dress up, even shine your shoes, and then don't want to go home. The Yukon Denali hosts all of the space and cargo options that the Yukon has to offer, but with more dazzle and definition than most country club banquet halls. Refined interior materials, leather seating, along with the most up-to-date amenities illustrate what has made the Yukon Denali such a crowd pleaser. There is no mistaking the smooth handling as well as performance – that's where it all starts. This is one SUV that has the quality and fashion to make it a superstar for a long, long time.
