Unveiled in 1999 as a standalone model, the GMC Sierra has evolved into one of the best-selling trucks in America. Launched to succeed the long-running C/K Series, GMC Sierra / Chevy Silverado trucks were designed to be faster, better handling, more powerful, and more comfortable than their predecessor. Early variants of the GMC Sierra were excellent workhorses acclaimed by construction workers, farmers and small-business owners, though in 2000 GMC introduced an upscale variant of the truck named the C3 that added a number of luxury features and turned a tough hauler into a comfortable vehicle. Next year it was renamed the Denali and nowadays this nameplate is still used to designate the Sierra's range-topping grade. Also in 2000, GMC launched a dedicated HD (Heavy-Duty) version of the model for industrial needs. It is a strengthened pickup truck that offers more potent V8 power units and higher towing and carrying capacities. The current GMC Sierra 1500 offers a wide range of powertrain, body style and trim level options allowing you to meet nearly any needs, from towing a boat or transporting home-improvement supplies to traveling with your family during weekends.
The GMC Sierra 1500 has gone through several generational changes, with each one bringing substantial redesigns and huge improvements in appearance, powertrains, and technology. With the launch of the second generation back in 2007, the Sierra gained more differentiation from its corporate sibling. This year brings an optional 6.2 L 403-hp V8 for the Denali. A hybrid version made a comeback for the 2009 model year but was soon phased out due to low demand. The third generation of the GMC Sierra 1500, debuted in 2013, got upgraded exterior and interior designs and offered three powertrain choices, including a 4.3-liter V6 and two V8 options, displacing 5.3 and 6.2 liters. A mid-cycle refresh for 2016 brought a revised front fascia, updated multimedia, and a new 8-speed automatic, together with multiple new features for the Denali.
The fourth-generation GMC Sierra 1500 utilizes three potent engines. The base one is a 5.3 L V8 that is teamed with an 8-speed automatic, while a 6.2 L V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic is offered optionally. Two traditional for the model engines are accompanied by an all-new 3.0 L turbodiesel I6 bolted to a 10-speed automatic as well. Gasoline power units use advanced technologies including start/stop feature and Dynamic Fuel Management allowing them to work on 1 to 8 cylinders depending on demand to improve both efficiency and power. The Sierra Denali comes with Adaptive Ride Control – an exclusive suspension system that utilizes advanced sensors to control chassis responses and road conditions in real time, adjusting active dampers of the vehicle every 2 milliseconds. The system allows the model to deliver exceptional responsiveness along with remarkable driving refinement. The truck also comes with the world's first carbon fiber bed.
