In the old days performance tuning required a tray of carburetor jets, a selection of distributor centrifugal advance weight springs, and a lot of time spent with a timing light and looking at spark plug color. To make power with today’s electronic fuel injection and distributorless ignition systems, you need more sophisticated equipment like Programmable ECUs, Fuel/Ignition Controllers, Data Loggers, and Wideband UEGO Gauges, and the tool of choice is often a laptop computer.

The ECU in modern electronically fuel injected vehicles can adjust the air/fuel mixture and ignition timing to accommodate minor modifications, thus it can increase fuel flow and timing advance to take advantage of the greater volume of cooler air provided by a cold air intake system. But when more substantial mods are made like increased displacement, high lift, long duration camshafts, larger fuel injectors and a less restrictive exhaust system, then the engine control electronics must also be upgraded.

We offer both universal programmable Engine Management Systems (EMS) as well as plug & play systems that connect right to the factory harness and use all of the OE sensors. These systems allow you to tune your engine via a PC or laptop with windows compatible software to get the most from your modifications and make power in the desired RPM range. While specific capability varies according to system, in general you can adjust Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) and ignition timing, control boost, nitrous oxide injection, and camshaft variable valve timing, and log and analyze data. In addition, some systems incorporate engine protection strategies and provide signal monitoring for diagnostics.

Maybe the most important aspect of engine tuning is getting the AFR right. Excessive fuel and a rich mixture won’t allow your engine to make maximum power, and too little fuel and a lean mixture can cause expensive engine damage. We offer Wideband UEGO (Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen) controllers that allow you to accurately monitor the AFR and make adjustments accordingly. These can provide output to an EMS or Data Logger, as well as to your choice of digital or analog gauges. We even have units that can be wirelessly connected to an iPhone or iPod, allowing you to monitor AFR and exhaust gas temperature in your vehicle without the need to mount a gauge.

Along with the above, we can also provide you with Data Loggers that accept both digital and analog inputs, allowing you to log almost any engine parameter, and which can be connected to EMS and UEGO controllers; and Boost Controllers that allow monitoring and adjustment of boost and incorporate overboost protection. We also have the sensors needed to provide system inputs including MAP/pressure sensors, temperature sensors, wideband UEGO sensors, and exhaust backpressure sensors, as well as the necessary wiring harnesses, cables, connectors, and relays to complete installation and ensure reliable communication between components.

Awesome Product
Very easy to install. Less than a couple of minutes. Easy to follow instructions and wow! What a difference. This is how my Challenger SRT8 should have come from the factory.

Improved City MPG, Not Highway
I'd rate this product a strong 2 to weak 3 star overall. It seemed to work the way intended as long as you were under 55 mph. At highway speeds, it didn't seem to make any difference at all, which is where I'd hoped for improving my mpg. When it was engaged, the 4 cylinder mode sounded different than factory 4 cylinder mode & the transmission seemed a bit choppier on shifts. After about 10 days use primarily in city driving, my wife noticed that the vehicle started to die randomly at stop lights or when stuck in non-moving traffic. That's when I decided it was no longer worth any city driving savings on gas, as safety is more important. I rated it the way I did because when it did work in the city, it definitely increased mpg. Maybe I got a lemon off the line, but not worth risking the safety of my family to find out.
