The Granada by Ford was available on the North American market between 1975 and 1982 along with its badge-engineered versions, the Lincoln Versailles and Monarch by Mercury. Originally it was a compact car intended to replace the Maverick. However, the latter was still popular in the early 1970s, so Ford decided to produce both cars at the same time. The list of the engines for the Ford Granada included four units from a 3.3 L Thriftpower Six to a 5.8 L "Windsor" V8. The second-generation Granada was launched for the 1981 model year. It was a mid-size car with a 2.3 L Lima four-cylinder motor under the hood (a 3.3 L Thriftpower Six inline-six as well as 4.2 L Windsor V8 were optional). The model was dropped after the 1982 model year.
