The Ford Courier was manufactured beginning in 1952. However, this compact pickup truck was marketed in the United States only from 1972 up to 1982. The Ford Courier is claimed to be the predecessor of the Ford Ranger. This compact pickup truck was built in a 2-door 2-seat pick-up body style and used a front-mounted engine. The initially available motor was a 1.8 L OHC I4 that produced 74 hp. It was coupled with a four-speed manual transmission as standard. A three-speed automatic one came as optional and in 1976, it was replaced with a five-speed manual. The Courier had a diesel engine too, but the vehicle was never sold with it in the United States.
