The Ford Bronco nameplate is back, and this time, the iconic body-on-frame SUV returns with a smaller cousin. The Ford Bronco Sport is a less hardcore, car-based crossover that shares its underpinnings with the Ford Escape. Although it utilizes the off-road image of its big brother and adopts similar boxy styling, the newcomer is more of a city commuter for people with an active lifestyle. It is not intended to go as far off the beaten track as its rugged stablemate, but the Bronco Sport doesn’t fear outdoor adventures. Sure enough, there’s a lot to like about this small SUV. However, implementing your own custom upgrades is a sure thing to do if you own a vehicle like this. Our selection of Ford Bronco Sport accessories and parts has everything you need to complete any kind of project.
The baby Bronco’s trim levels are shared with its big brother, namely the base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands. The last trim is the analog to the off-road-ready Rubicon and Trailhawk models offered by Jeep. The 4X4 system is standard across the board, and it’s optimized for off-road capability. The Badlands, as well as its limited-production First Edition version that adds unique exterior accessories and interior upgrades, is equipped with advanced all-wheel-drive. It makes use of a twin-clutch unit that carries out a torque vectoring function while featuring an electronic differential lock. Trail Control is there as well, responsible for speed control during off-roading.
Two turbocharged powerplants are available at launch. A 1.5-liter I3 good for 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque is the entry-level unit, while a 2.0-liter 245-hp 4-cylinder is an upgrade option. Regardless of the engine, the SUV has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Bronco Sport features interdependent suspension at all four wheels which is complemented by the automaker’s trail tech when driving in challenging environments. The Terrain Management System operates via several G.O.A.T. modes, named so as they help the driver Go Over Any Terrain. While sitting one inch higher than the rest of the pack, the Badlands comes with a variety of off-road parts. These include specifically-tuned dampers and all-terrain tires.
Externally, many of the Sport’s accessories and design elements emphasize its kinship with the Bronco, including a one-piece grille flanked by round headlights. A wide variety of Ford Bronco Sport parts and accessories are available for personalization from the factory, but those sourced from the aftermarket will help you create a wholly your own vehicle. The Sport features a roof-mounted rack, while a stepped roofline design helps increase headroom for rear passengers and create a spacious cargo area where you can transport two mountain bikes after you lay the rear seats down. The interior design is focused on utility, so there’s a rubberized cargo floor, cloth upholstery, and an overall simple layout with big and easy to use physical knobs. Infotainment is controlled by an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Among the standard driver-assist tech features, there are lane keep assist, automated braking in an emergency situation, and rear cross-traffic alert.
