The American automaker Dodge introduced its mid-size 2-door coupe, the Magnum, in 1978. It was the last company's model constructed on Chrysler's B platform. The Magnum's base motor was a 5.2 L LA V8 and two more powerful versions were offered as well. They were a 5.9 L LA V8 and a 6.6 L B V8. At the same time, only one gearbox option was offered – a 3-speed A727 automatic one. The production run of the Magnum finished in 1979. In 2004, Dodge revived the nameplate, giving it to a full-size 5-door station wagon. It was constructed on the LX platform by Chrysler and utilized a 2.72 L LH V6 power plant good for 190 hp. The production run of the new Magnum ended in 2008.
