The Korean automobile manufacturer Daewoo Motors started production of the front-wheels drive subcompact Daewoo Lanos in 1997. The car was designed as a replacement for the Nexia model, but later in 2002 it itself was replaced with Kalos model in North America. This lineup of Korean cars was produced under many brands and model names in different countries. The development process of the Lanos started off in 1992 with the market analysis.
