While power output of engines goes up, the clamping and holding capacity of any clutch must increase also, which is the case with high-performance street or race track cars. To create a clutch with all of the performance characteristics needed for many specific applications is a challenge to be taken on by the company that knows how to design clutches for demanding conditions. Increasing holding and clamping pressure almost inevitably increases pedal pressure, resulting in drivability issues, greater load on thrust bearing, and premature damage of clutch components.
