The Chevy C/K full-size light-duty pickup has been one of the longest running automobile series in the U.S. Even though first in-house designs of the pickup appeared in 1930, the very first C/K line was launched only in 1960 to replace the Chevy Task Force. In course of time, the new pickup was followed by the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. The abbreviation C/K stands for the available drivetrain options: the C indicates two-wheel drive variants and the K represents four-wheel drive pickups. The truck came through 4 generations, with the last pickup produced in 1999. The first-generation Chevy C/K was offered in 4 body styles, a 2-door regular cab, 2-door/3-door extended cab, and 4-door crew cab. The wheelbase varied depending on the motor box: 115 inches (short box) and 127 inches (long box). The measurements differed with every C/K's successive generation.
Besides the base trim line, there was also a “Custom” one. The C/K series came with the standard GMC 305 in³ V6 engine, though a 236 in³ (3.9L) version producing 135 horsepower, 261 in³ (4.3L) straight-6s with 150 hp, and a 283 in³ (4.6L) V8 with 185 hp were available as well. The 1967 Chevy C/K, which got a nickname “Action Line”, was comfortable and convenient. Along with new model years came new and more powerful vehicles with upgraded Chevy C/K Pickup parts. The first-generation C/K series was available with 3-speed and 4-speed synchromesh manual and 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmissions.
Addition of side-marker reflectors differed the 1967 model from the 1968 C/K. Soon, the Chevy C/K got a more upright hood. The grille was the most noticeable among refreshed C/K Pickup parts. The “egg-crate” grille design came along with the 1971 model. The only change for both 1971 and 1972 models affected the rear view mirror that was glued to the windshield, instead of being bolted to the top of the cab as in the previous models. The third-generation design features included "double-wall" construction, sleek sculpted body, flared secondary beltline, and an aerodynamic cab. Wraparound tail lights were a new addition for the 3rd generation C/K. Several models, from 1994 until the end of C/K production, got some exterior refreshments, like a new front fascia, new wheel and tire combinations, rocker panels with a new 2-tone option, new gloss black folding outside mirrors, and door handles with a textured satin finish.
There are trucks and then there is the Chevy C/K Pickup. The difference? While other monsters of the road tend to blend into obscurity, the Chevy C/K Pickup stands out, further elevating its status due to the loyalty of its drivers. And that's what it's all about. The Chevrolet CK Pickup is known for its ability to haul as well as thunder down the freeway, giving a glimpse of the rugged style it is always recognized for. If you've been gunning for a shot at Chevy CK Pickup accessories that add onto the image, you've come to the right place!
