Developed as a competitor to the Ford Mustang, the Chevy Camaro was launched back in 1966. It was a pony car made to fit a wide range of power units in the engine bay. Originally, the Camaro was offered with 8 engine options and two years later, in 1969, 12 options were available for the car. The list of transmissions was shorter – it included 4 options: 2-speed automatic, 3-speed manual and automatic, and 4-speed manual. Lots of other options were available for the first-generation Chevy Camaro, though there were three main packages – the appearance package RS, performance-oriented SS, and Z/28 – performance version designed to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series.
