2006 was the premier year for the Buick Lucerne, the successor of the Park Avenue and LeSabre models produced by General Motors' Buick division. That was a front-wheel-drive full-size car built on the revised Pontiac Bonneville H-body platform. It was powered by 3.8L V6 engine, with the optional Northstar V8, making Lucerne the first Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV). A Magnetic Ride Control, active suspension technology delivering better road handling for driving on the curvy roads, was available as an option.
From the beginning of sales in 2006 Lucerne lineup was equipped with 3.8L V6, 3.9L V6, and 4.6L V8 engines being suggested for CX, CXL, and Super (which replaced the previous CXS modification) trim levels. There was also Lucerne CXL Special Edition featuring more standard features and accessories than regular CXL. All modifications had four-speed automatic transmission in the list of standard Buick Lucerne parts. Traditionally, Buick incorporated three\four 'Ventiports' on the front fenders, corresponding to the number of cylinders in the V6 and the V8 Northstar.
The latest Buick Lucerne 2011 has the same parts, features and options as the 2010 version, that earned a 'Good' overall score in the front impact test and 'Acceptable' in the side impact test, conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The GM Detroit/Hamtramck Plant, where Buick Lucerne parts are produced and where the car is assembled, has won the Initial Quality awards from J.D. Power and Associates for the previous 3 years.
The Buick Lucerne offers as much strength and performance as any other American luxury sedan, which is one of the main reasons the model has become a fast favorite. The Lucerne encompasses all of the elegantly styled amenities that every driver looks for, including the high-tech dash options and roomy cabin seating, which increase the car's overall luxurious profile. Boasting an efficient and dominant V8, the Lucerne also demonstrates fistful of power that elevates and excites. Easily one of the most sought-after domestic automobiles in recent years.
