With the introduction of the X7 Concept at the 2017 auto show in Frankfurt, BMW brings a serious challenger to the table. BMW's debut full-size three-row SUV offering is a bit late to the game already led by big players like Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and Cadillac, but it's obviously not going to lag behind and has all of the necessary traits to match up against competitors. According to the automaker, their long-awaited big SUV represents a whole new take on luxury for the entire brand. The BMW X7 looks striking on the outside, boasting an impressive stance and presence, while its luxurious character continues in the interior decked with rich materials and jam-packed with modern technology.
The BMW X7 looks big and bold. The front fascia is dominated by a massive vertical kidney grille, the biggest of those ever fitted to a BMW. In combination with elongated twin headlights, it emphasizes the contrast between the model's impressive height and horizontal dynamism. The vehicle's upright stance, front and rear, further accentuates its height. The BMW X7 has a sumptuous profile, high ground clearance typical for the automaker's X vehicles, and bold 21-inch wheels. Inside, all BMW X7 accessories and parts are perfectly combined to create a luxurious, high-tech in-cabin environment. Big windows and a huge sunroof with optional LED illumination create a light, airy feel inside the cabin. The interior is executed in gray and blue tones and features leather, suede, and wood surfaces. Three rows of seats can accommodate seven people, although, the second row can be optionally replaced with two captain's chairs, thus reducing seating to six. In addition to great seating capacity, the X7 offers generous 48.6 cubes for cargo behind the third tow that transform into 90.4 cubic feet with the second and third row folded flat. In the center, there are two large 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system. There are plenty of available features on technology and safety fronts, including a five-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree view system, a head-up display, the Active Driving Assistant Professional suite of smart aids, and more.
At launch, the BMW X7 is available in two gasoline-fed variants. Power for the xDrive40i comes from a 3.0-liter turbo I6 developing 335 horsepower. It takes the SUV to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, which is pretty fast for a vehicle this huge. The more powerful xDrive50i is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 putting down 456 hp and 479 pound-feet of twist, enough to take a sprint to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic and standard fully variable all-wheel drive. Self-leveling air bags are standard as well, which work with a double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link setup that suspends the rear. For those who want more dynamic driving or more impressive off-road capabilities can opt for special packages that add niceties like adaptive suspension, an electronically locking rear diff, ultra-strong M Sport brakes, and rear-wheel steering.
The BMW X7 oozes exclusivity from every pore. Still, it is a production vehicle with many of the clones on the road. You can make your SUV one of a kind with our BMW X7 accessories that include everything from custom wheels to seat covers. And when the time comes to do a maintenance job like changing oil or air filter, or if your vehicle needs a repair, keep in mind we're always ready to provide you with the right BMW X7 parts.
