Add more zest and sportier styling to the already successful BMW X1 and you'll have what the automaker's new X2 is basically all about. BMW's latest addition to the crossover lineup is built around the same UKL2 platform that underpins the X1, 2-Series, and the entire range of Mini vehicles. The BMW X2 was thought to be a swoopy-roof derivative of the X1, just like what the X4 is to the X3, yet in reality it is a much sharper, more aggressive crossover with a distinctive style. Shorter and lower than its sibling, it has a car-like look and is regarded by many as a large hatchback in a crossover guise. Up front, there is a reworked kidney grille design, large air intakes, and sleek halogen headlights with standard LED DRLs, with even sharper full-LED options available. The squared-off rear is aggressively styled, with a small roof spoiler and slim horizontal tail lights that are a departure from BMW's classic L shape. Side body cladding emphasizes its rugged nature, while the roundels on the C-pillars resemble those found in classic BMW coupes.
By contrast with its aggressive exterior, inside, BMW X2 accessories and parts form quite a conservative appearance traditional for the brand's vehicles. Many of interior features are shared with the X1, including the dash design and center console with contrast stitching. Tech-wise, there's the ConnectedDrive system and a standard 6.5-inch infotainment screen. Optional extras are a touch-capable screen measuring 6.5 or 8.8 inches, full-color head-up display, voice control, Apple CarPlay integration, etc.
Supposed to appeal to young, active people who live in urban areas, the BMW X2 was given an edge in driving dynamics. Its center of gravity and curb weight are lower compared to its X1 relative, which results in better responsiveness and quicker acceleration (6.3 seconds to 60 mph). As for motive power, at launch, the North American X2 gets a single option - a 2.0-liter 228-hp I4 teamed with an 8-speed automatic and AWD. European customers can choose from three-and four-cylinder gasoline-fed and diesel engines that can be paired to a sporty transmission option – a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch one. For those who want sportier performance and appearance, there's a rally-inspired M Sport X package that adds a revised transmission with paddle shifters, unique bumpers, rocker extensions, larger wheels, and aluminum interior trim. Another option is an M Sport package that received a drop by 0.4 inch and stiffer suspension that can be equipped with adaptive dampers. If the stock packages and trim levels do not offer the needed features, you'll find everything you might wish for in the modern-day aftermarket which is rife with BMW X2 accessories. We carry a broad range of BMW X2 parts and accessories from some of the biggest names.
