Lowering a vehicle can affect other systems besides the suspension, primarily the steering. With lowered suspension the tie-rods are now in a different plane connecting to the spindles, and this can cause the car to want to turn when you hit a bump, otherwise known as "bump steer". Installing these offset steering rack bushings repositions the steering rack to eliminate this change in plane, and eliminate bump steer. The bushings actually help position the steering rack back to its original position in relation to the tie-rods and spindles.

Besides correcting steering and alignment problems, these firmer polyurethane bushings will also not compress as easily as rubber, providing a more precise steering feel. And they're impervious to ozone, grease and oil, which can attack rubber and cause it to prematurely fail.
