Many aftermarket stereo systems draw a lot of power, and if your vehicle's electrical system isn’t upgraded, you can have poor audio performance no matter how great the amplifier or subwoofers. Plus you can have more serious problems like dimming headlights or a vehicle that won’t start. We have the products you need to ensure optimal operation of your system including power supplies and cells, capacitors, inverters, converters, and testing tools.
Compensate for Lack of Power
If your headlights are dimming when the stereo is cranked up, you’re drawing too much energy and straining your electrical system. The first step is to check the entire electrical network for soundness including grounds and alternator output, but one way you can upgrade your system is with a power cell type battery. These are AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) type batteries where electrolyte is absorbed in glass matting that is akin to a sponge.
Select the Source of Energy
AGM batteries are completely sealed, spill proof, and maintenance-free, and can be mounted in any position. But the most important feature is their low resistance and greater plate area, which provides more electrical energy for your network. These batteries are a great choice if you’re adding the second source of electricity to your system, especially if you play the stereo for long periods with the engine off. Another addition you can make is a capacitor, which stores energy and delivers it quicker than a battery, such as when bass notes or drum beats put large power demands on the amplifier.
Power Supplies and Converters
Another option for providing the juice with the engine off is a converter or power supply. These units convert house current into 12 volts DC, so they can provide electricity for your stereo and any other 12V DC components. They’re available in a wide range of output ratings and many include a microprocessor controlled battery charger that continuously monitors battery state of charge and load and charges it accordingly. Units with the charger are designed to be mounted in the vehicle and always connected to the battery.
What We Offer
Here you will find a wide array of products for powering your system:
- Power cells, inverters, converters, and other devices which transform or generate electric current.
- Installation kits, terminal posts, cables, and other parts responsible for transferring the current exactly where you need it.
- Fuses, breakers, holders, etc. for maximum safety.
- Multimeters, scanners, and testers in order to find malfunctions and make sure everything works properly.
