Air is a compressible gas, which is easy to add or remove – all you need is a compressor and some kind of a valve. These features make it perfect for being used in a vehicle's suspension. The major advantage of the air suspension is adjustability – change of the ride height by inflating or deflating rubber bags, which act like springs. It means that air can also be used for absorbing the impacts from the road surface. While compressing, air releases heat and thus can dissipate the kinetic energy of the wheel assembly moving upward.
