For the first time Aston Martin Vantage was revealed in 1972 as a high-performance version of the DBS powered by a 4.0 L Tadek Marek I6 engine. It slightly differed from the base model and there were just 71 units manufactured during its run (1972-1974 model years). The British carmaker used this nameplate earlier for high-performance version of its GT cars, however they were positioned as a part of the main lineup. In 2005, the series of hand-built sports cars from Aston Martin got the name Vantage. These cars received a bonded aluminum construction and a 4.3L quad-cam 32-valve V8 engine rated at 380 hp. There were a number of models manufactured within the series and their production is still ongoing.
