oem design leaves room for big improvements
the turbine outlet on the stock evo x turbo is a cast piece with a rather complex geometry. it hugs the back of the turbo pretty tightly and has a small diameter outlet, necking down to around 2.25" before it enters the actual downpipe. the discharge from the turbo's internal wastegate is introduced right at the point where the exhaust flow exits the turbine and the entire gas flow is then forced to make a tight turn all in a small area.
this creates a lot of turbulence and if the exhaust gas volume is increased by running other power increasing mods, this juncture is an area where a lot of backpressure will be created. due to the space constraints, it is real hard to design a low backpressure fabricated tubular part to fit in the area allowed that is actually better than stock.
removing restrictive design constraints allows for maximum power
by making the turbine outlet section a casting, ams were able to maximize the tight space allowed for your o2 housing and downpipe. by using three dimensions to make a higher volume, straighter path from the turbine housing to the downpipe itself ams achieved the best exhaust flow and power increases without sacrifice. this downpipe provides more than enough flow for anything from stock to the biggest upgraded turbos available making it the last one you will ever have to buy!
better than oem quality, durability and fitment
unlike the competition, ams downpipe is completely made of 304 cast stainless steel, including the flex section and flanges, for rock-solid durability. no thin, cheap tubing that can crack over time from engine movement and give you headaches down the road. precise fitment makes for ease of installation and ams provide all of the gaskets and hardware needed. ams even incorporated a bung for a wideband gauge with a plug included.

LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY

This warranty applies to AMS parts and starts from the invoice date of purchase and ends in twelve (12) months or 12,000 miles from that date, whichever occurs first. Due to the variety of modifications and changes made to cars and/or engines, that may affect the performance or durability of related components, AMS’s obligation under this warranty extends solely to the repair or replacement parts manufactured by AMS.
Damaged or defective parts covered under this warranty will be repaired or replaced by AMS at no cost to the customer. Payment of the cost of labor related to said repair/replacement is at the sole discretion of AMS and will only be covered by AMS where the AMS part or parts were originally installed or service was performed at the AMS facility. Labor/service performed at any other facility is at the sole discretion of that facility and is excluded from this warranty.

LIMITED PACKAGE WARRANTY

This warranty applies to AMS packages and starts from the invoice date of purchase and ends in twelve (12) months or 12,000 miles from that date, whichever occurs first. Due to the variety of modifications and changes made to cars and/or engines that may affect the performance or durability of related components, AMS’s obligation under this warranty extends solely to the repair or replacement of a package or packages manufactured, installed and/or sold by AMS.
All parts replaced under warranty will become the sole property of AMS Performance.

EXCLUSIONS

Parts showing evidence of misapplication, abuse, misuse, improper maintenance, neglect, alterations from their original configuration, or failure to follow installation instructions are expressly not covered by this warranty. AMS reserves the right to make changes to its products, or specifications at any time without obligation to modify earlier parts. No person, company, or other organization is authorized to assume for AMS any warranty responsibility or make binding judgments regarding warranties of any parts, which from time to time may become subject of a warranty claim.
The AMS Limited Product Warranty further excludes the following: transportation and shipping charges, towing and rental car charges; damage to a component or assembly due to installation of replacement parts with specification(s) that differ in any material respect from the original vehicle manufacturer’s or AMS parts; damage resulting from the modification of an AMS part; damage resulting from the use of other manufacturer’s products in conjunction with AMS’ products or systems; damage to clutch or transmission components; maintenance services and parts when replaced during maintenance such as spark plugs, lubricants, fluids, engine tune-up parts, replacement filters, coolant and refrigerant; mechanical adjustments or repairs which result from normal wear and tear; damage due to the failure to perform maintenance services at the specified intervals or in accordance with the instructions in the owner’s manual from the original vehicle manufacturer or AMS product instructions; damage attributed to negligence, improper installation, improper treatment contrary to the instructions in the owner’s manual from the original vehicle manufacturer or AMS product instructions; damage resulting from improper or contaminated fuel; damage to the AMS component as a result of a collision or repair; any vehicle/products operated and used in a competitive event, custom designed competition parts; incidental and /or consequential damages, including loss of time, inconvenience or loss of the use of the vehicle.
AMS’ Limited Product Warranty applies only to AMS vehicles and AMS products sold and installed through AMS Preferred Dealers and Installers.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act:

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) Learn More
