The climate control module is the brain, the command center, of the A/C system. It is housed in your dash, and from there it sends all the necessary commands to the rest of the system to begin the cooling or heating process. This combination of stylish buttons, dials, or knobs will give you the domination you need over the climate inside your vehicle. Whether its 100°F or -10°F outside you are in control of the inside!
Along with the climate control unit are switches, relays, and power modules. Relays and switches are what allow climate control parts to be turned on and off at the most opportune times. When a relay or switch becomes faulty the circuit will either remain engaged or stop functioning completely. Imagine your climate control system being engaged at all times regardless of what settings you try to choose. It would just be wasting fuel on erroneous parasitic loss and could be either blowing cold A/C in the winter or blasting you with heat in the summer!
Most automatic temperature control units will have a power module. This module actually regulates the speed of the blower motor. The HVAC controller will get readings from the ambient and internal temperature sensors and then send a signal to the power module for guidance. There are an infinite number of setting since the speed varies depending on how hard the system will need to work to reach the desired temperature. We have come a long way from the days of having only 3 or 4 blower settings. For optimal efficiency all you need to do is set the temperature and let the car do all the work!
Replacement climate control units can either be brand new, or fully remanufactured to like new fit, form, and function! Years of wear and tear can cause labels to fade, causing difficulty navigating the controls of the unit. Knobs, buttons, or dials can become loose, preventing you from being able to accurately change settings to adjust the system to your level of comfort. Bulbs can also burn out making it difficult to use at night. LED displays could also become corrupted and prevent important data from being read. Don’t get aggravated over issues like this, get a new climate control unit!
