The Jeep Wrangler is a sure choice for those who are in the market for a go-anywhere SUV. It still has the DNA of the original WWII military Jeep but today’s Wrangler is far from being a bare-bones transportation. Different models and packages offer leather interiors, multi-speaker audio systems, and modern infotainment setups with smartphone compatibility and navigation. Regardless of the trim level, you can take the doors and roof off, fold the windshield down, and enjoy that unique kind of off-roading experience Jeeps are known for. And if you’re planning a customization job to make it even more rewarding to drive and own (you sure do, given it is a Jeep), you’ll find all you need in our full selection of 2021 Jeep Wrangler accessories and parts.
The big newsmaker this year is undoubtedly the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV, named the Wrangler 4xe. The new vehicle is designed to explore the wilderness in a more nature-friendly way, without compromising any of the off-road capabilities that the fuel-only Wrangler has always been known for. The 4xe PHEV is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 and two electric motors that produce 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque in total, while having earned a 50 MPGe rating. Powering the motors is a 17.0-kWh battery located beneath the rear seats. Different driving modes allow for choosing the source of propulsion, whether it is the gasoline engine, electricity alone, or the combination of the two.
In an all-electric mode, the 4xe can travel 25 miles. Like a proper Jeep, the electrified Wrangler features solid Dana 44 axles, full-time 4x4, a high ground clearance of 10.8 inches, and an impressive water-fording depth of 30 inches. To enable the PHEV to safely head out on water excursions, the experts at Jeep have fitted it with waterproof electrical system parts. Visually, the 4xe stands out from the rest of the pack with Electric Blue exterior and interior elements. A variety of factory-installed options are available, including a lift kit that adds 2 inches to ride height, a winch, tubular doors, rock sliders, and other equipment.
Introduced for 2018, the Wrangler JL is still fresh, but it does need serious updates to beat the upcoming Ford Bronco. A much-wanted V8 engine makes its way under the hood of the 4-door 2021 Wrangler Rubicon. That’s a 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V8 good for 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. V8 power is an ace up the Wrangler’s sleeve, as opposed to the Bronco that doesn’t currently list an eight-cylinder among its engine options. So equipped, the Rubicon 392 can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. It also features a fair share of off-road parts, such as Dana 44 axles, locking diffs, Fox shocks, and 33-inch tires, while adding accessories like a winch and Mopar rock rails.
There is a variety of fresh features that the Jeep Wrangler gets for 2021. The base Sport trim level, which came exclusively with the part-time Command-Trac 4WD, now offers the full-time Selec-Trac transfer case. The Rubicon gains a revised Rock-Trac system that now has some of the Selec-Trac’s functionality. This extreme off-road-oriented model also receives the Off-Road Plus mode sourced from the Desert Rated Jeep Gladiator Mojave, which allows it to drive on sand at higher speeds with greater ease. Also borrowed from the Gladiator is a front-facing camera that provides a good view of trail obstacles. If you want to give your SUV an upgrade that will make it shine on demanding terrain, or you simply want it to look more rugged and aggressive, our 2021 Jeep Wrangler parts and accessories catalog is your one-stop destination.
The regular 2021 Wrangler is available in 2-door and 4-door Unlimited versions, each coming in the Sport, Sport S, and Rubicon guises plus the four-door-specific Sahara trim. A range of strong powerplants give the SUV the necessary motivation to explore the wilderness, with the lineup starting with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. It is rated at 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and paired to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox. Starting this year, this is the sole powerplant to feature mild-hybrid eTorque electric assist as Jeep ditches it from the optional 2.0-liter 270-hp turbo I4. For those who need the most torque for low-speed off-roading, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is the way to go with its 442 pound-feet of twist.
As always, Jeep offers a slew of limited-edition models for its lineup of vehicles. 2021 is a special year for Jeep as it marks the brand’s 80th birthday and the proper way to celebrate this is with the 80th Anniversary Edition model. In the case of the Wrangler, changes are mainly styling-related. The SUV dons an exclusive Granite Crystal color and a matching set of wheels, fender flares, and interior trim. On the tech side, the model offers remote start and an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM functions.
As an answer to the Bronco Sasquatch, Jeep has launched the Xtreme Recon package for its already hardcore Unlimited and 392 Rubicon. For starters, this pack brings a set of tough 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires with a range of equipment helping make the best use of their performance and traction. It includes 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a 4.56:1 or optional 4.88:1 axle ratio, and a 1.5-inch lift kit with specifically-tuned dampers. As a result, Jeep has achieved an improvement in all critical areas, including approach, breakover, and departure angles, ground clearance, and water fording capability, having outshined the Sasquatch in all of them. But the most impressive thing about this package is that it enables an industry-leading crawl ratio of 100:1, giving the driver even more control when going over obstacles.
