When the second generation of the Nissan Titan made its debut in 2015, it was the newest offering on the full-size pickup truck market. However, the Big Three rolled out a lot of changes for their trucks ever since, leaving the Titan struggling to catch up. Now is the perfect time for the Japanese automaker to give its big rig a mid-cycle refresh. Unveiled at the State Fair of Texas, the updated 2020 Nissan Titan sports sharper styling, revised powertrain, and more tech options across the lineup. It is still a great performer when it comes to towing, hauling, and going off-road. Owners can easily make their trucks more rewarding to own and drive with a multitude of 2020 Nissan Titan accessories and parts available in the aftermarket.
First off, Nissan discontinues a 5.0-liter Cummins V8 turbodiesel for 2020, which means the Titan XD model gets it axed as well. A 5.6-liter Endurance V8 is the sole engine starting this year, and it gets enhancements to put out more horsepower and torque. Not it is rated at 400 hp and 413 lb-ft, versus the outgoing model's 390 hp and 394 lb-ft. The previous 7-speed transmission is gone; replacing it is a 9-speed automatic with an increased final ratio of 3.692 to 1, which improves acceleration at speeds from 50 to 70 mph. The truck comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but buyers can opt for 4x4 with a transfer case and selectable drive modes which improve performance in difficult driving conditions such as snow, gravel, mud, and sand. The off-road PRO-4X truck soldiers on for another year, equipped with Hill Descent Control, an electronic locking diff, all-terrain rubber, high-output headlights, and skid plates, among other parts and accessories that make it more capable on the paths less traveled.
The 2020 Titan now wears bolder styling which is more in line with that of American pickups. Many of the exterior accessories and body parts were redesigned to give the truck a more aggressive look. New grille designs differ depending on the trim level. A front bumper is remodeled and accented with black or chrome trim, and there are new wheel options and body paint colors. A wide range of 2020 Nissan Titan parts and accessories are offered for owners to make custom mods. Both front and rear lighting got extensive updates. New optional headlights are 120 percent more powerful. The mid-cycle refresh also brings new LED bed lights and taillights. The Single Cab body style was removed, leaving King Cab and Crew Cab options. Inside, the 2020 Titan sports upscale materials and adds more equipment. An 8'' touchscreen replaces the previous 7'' unit, with a 9'' display available as an option. Smartphone (Android and Apple) and Wi-Fi connectivity is standard across the board. Every new Titan now comes with Nissan's advanced suite of driver assist systems named Safety Shield 360, which includes auto emergency braking, auto high beams, and lane departure warning, among other electronic aids.
