The DBS Superleggera by Aston Martin entered the market for 2019 as the new flagship of the British carmaker. It is the second most powerful Aston Martin’s car ever after the road-going Vulcan. Its nameplate is translated as “super light” from Italian and the car is really lightweight – with 3,733 lb, it is nearly 160 lb lighter than the DB11. Besides, it is super powerful too – a 5.2 L twin-turbo V12 employed by the DBS Superleggera is capable of producing 715 hp and 664 lb.-ft, directed through a rear-mounted 8-speed automatic. This incredible power blasts the car to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and in 3 seconds more, it hits 100 mph. The top speed is 211 mph. The engine was specifically tuned to deliver improved performance, and thanks to new exhaust technology, it produces a more notable sound. Two body style options are offered, a coupe with a metal roof and a convertible (Volante) with a canvas top. There’s also the TAG Heuer Edition created in partnership with the renowned watchmaker. The special edition package is limited to 50 cars that feature a black-and-red color scheme and plenty of carbon fiber parts.

Thanks to a special location of the engine back and low in the chassis, the 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera delivers optimized weight distribution. A mechanical limited-slip differential along with torque vectoring contributes to precise and predictable handling. The vehicle rides on the updated bonded aluminum chassis unveiled with the DB11. In the front, the DBS Superleggera features forged double wishbones, while in the rear there is a multi-link setup. The car utilizes advanced adaptive dampers featuring numerous sensors that detect the driver’s demand and prevailing driving conditions. The model offers three driving modes, being GT, Sport and Sport Plus intended to adjust the responses of the vehicle according to the changing needs.
