Vehicle & Parts Protection
For the 2018 model year, the Jeep Wrangler got a number of significant changes, which make it an all-new vehicle compared to the 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK. With its new design and updated components, the Wrangler won great attention of the automotive world. It still provides time-proven off-road performance, while 2018 Jeep Wrangler accessories and parts of the exterior create a bold appearance. Yet, the vehicle is lighter and more comfortable. To shave the weight off the vehicle, the manufacturer switched to aluminum body panels, making the new 2018 Wrangler lighter while retaining its ruggedness and strength for the trail. Using aluminum body panels instead of steel ones also boosts fuel efficiency and makes the vehicle more nimble on the trail. To save weight and significantly increase fuel efficiency, the axle assembly (a Dana 44) has been improved for this year.
The Wrangler continues into the new model year under the “JK” name, available with 3.6 L Pentastar, four-cylinder turbo (Hurricane), and diesel engine options. In the meantime, there's also an all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL that offers a choice between a turbocharged 2.0-liter four and a 3.6-liter V6 bolted to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The redesigned SUV features a removable roof or a power-operated soft top, the windshield that can be folded down, and removable doors. The new Wrangler is available in two-door and four-door versions, plus a pickup truck model is expected to join the family. The lineup has been expanded with the Freedom Edition, Golden Eagle, and Altitude special editions. The Willys Wheeler and Freedom Edition trim levels of the vehicle now boast the Tru-Lock locking rear differential.
For this year, the exterior of the Jeep Wrangler has also been upgraded to provide up-to-date and more attractive looks. Thus, the well-known and recognized Jeep grille has been redesigned and all Wrangler’s lighting has been revamped. The premium tan soft top is included for the golden Eagle trim and available for Rubicon Recon and Freedom Edition trims. Inside, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler boasts a refined but still rugged interior. While sticking to its heritage, the vehicle offers an up-to-date, usable cabin that is more spacious and offers increased legroom. Inside the 2018 Wrangler JL, there's the UConnect 3 system operated via a 5-inch display, while higher trims get the latest UConnect C with larger displays measuring 7 or 8.4 inches. The instrument and door panels are contoured, while details are either outfitted with bezels or given a machined look.
To fill the gap between the rugged off-road-ready Rubicon and luxury Sahara, the company introduced the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition. The limited version of the vehicle was inspired by the off-road trails of Moab, Utah, where the annual Easter Jeep Safari takes place. The Moab Edition is easily distinguishable by the large “Moab” lettering on the sides of the steel hood which it shares with the Rubicon, along with steel bumpers with removable end caps. Matte black 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels are wrapped in aggressive-looking mud-terrain 32-inch tires. The same low-gloss black paint can be seen on grille inserts, headlight and taillight bezels. The exterior lighting system both in the front and back features LED clusters. The Moab is available in nine colors, including different shades of gray, bright white, metallic orange, green, blue, and red. A hard body-colored top is standard. As an option, the user can choose the Sky One-Touch or Dual Top Group power top.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition can be equipped either with the Rubicon’s off-road rock sliders designed to protect the rocker panels during intense rock climbing. For those who don’t like the idea of such extreme adventures, the company offers the option of swapping rugged rock sliders for a pair of side steps without additional pay. This limited edition Jeep is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and comes with new Salec-Trac full-time 4WD, two-speed transfer case, and a limited-slip differential. Inside, The Moab Edition features leather-wrapped seats and dash with contrast stitching. As standard, the company offers an extensive safety package that includes rear cross path detection, blind-spot monitoring, a backup camera, and much more. Jeep’s UConnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a 9-speaker Alpine stereo system are also standard. Options include a Cold Weather Package with heated seats and steering wheel, Trailer Tow Package, and new Trail Rail cargo organizer system.
