The G90 is a new player on the full-size luxury sedan market, introduced by the Genesis brand for the 2017 model year with the intention to skim buyers away from its best-selling competitors such as the Lexus LS and BMW 7-Series. Despite the 2017 Genesis G90 is positioned as an all-new entry, the vehicle’s concept isn’t new. The Genesis brand was separated from Hyundai in 2015 to focus on manufacturing and marketing luxury vehicles, starting with the flagship G90 model, formerly known as the Hyundai Equus. The 2017 Genesis G90 is available in two trim levels, namely the 3.3T Premium and 5.0 Ultimate. The former sports a turbocharged 3.3-liter 365-horsepower V6 engine, while the latter is motivated by a 5.0-liter 420-horsepower V8. The standard powertrain setup for both trim levels includes an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. AWD is optional for both trim levels. The 2017 G90 offers an acceptable fuel economy rate of 17/24 mpg for the V6 and 16/24 mpg for the rear-wheel-drive V8 model.

Apart from the engine used, there is only a slight difference between the two. Either of them has basically everything that drivers expect from a luxury-class vehicle, including premium leather upholstery, genuine wood trim, heated seats, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, power sunshades, and head-up display, just to name a few. Safety features include front and rear parking sensors, surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring, and other technologies that ensure the driver’s and passengers’ safety. Upgrading to the 5.0 Ultimate adds power-adjusted rear seats with ventilation and memory functions.
