Chevy Corvette 2014, SX6R Series Drilled & Slotted SX6R Front Big Brake Kit by Wilwood®. Quantity: Sold as a kit. SX6R calipers were designed for the specific purpose of providing high capacity braking with large diameter rotors for extreme duty and race vehicles. It is the largest dual-purpose caliper Wilwood has produced, providing big brake performance for show and dual-purpose street and track vehicles. Offering additionally enhanced braking with wheel and tire upgrades. Kits are fully compatible with OE master cylinder output and ABS function. Directional 72 staggered vanes SRP Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors provide maximum cooling for sustained high heat durability.

SRP Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors:

Wilwood’s SRP Rotor and Lug Drive Hat Assemblies are preassembled packages of our latest and greatest technology and design. The lug-drive rotor mounting system eliminates the rotor bolts and instead, a large single internal snap-ring retains the rotor in the hat. This system allows the rotors to move independently of the hats as they expand and contract through heat cycles. All thermally generated stress is removed from the rotor attachment points. The rotors stay flatter and run truer. Paired with SRP Drilled Performance rotors that are manufactured from a proprietary iron alloy developed to withstand extreme temperatures with the highest possible degree of resistance against distortion, warping, cracking, and wear. SRP Drilled Performance Rotors feature a specially engineered directional cross drill and face slot pattern that improve brake response and pad performance throughout the entire range of light to heavy braking. The venting and cleaning action of the holes and slots will reduce pad glaze and disperse gasses and heat generated during the pad to rotor interface.

SX6R Brake Calipers:

The new SX6R forged six piston caliper delivers heavy duty stopping power for the road or track. The caliper incorporates race technology into a body design with widespread adaptability. Radial mounting, multiple options for piston volume, and a rotor diameter ranging to 15.00" give this caliper the versatility necessary to suit all types of heavy weight braking requirements. The new SX6R is is largest caliper with the latest innovations incorporating an exclusive dust wiper seal that further protects the piston bore from dust and corrosion, allowing the caliper to be used in locales that mandate a method of environmental sealing.

ProMatrix PM™ Brake Pad Set

Temperature range and overall friction value are the primary considerations for pad selection. The pads must be capable of maintaining the proper amount of friction for stopping power within the temperatures that will be realized on the track during the event. Then, overall wear rate must be considered. For most asphalt and road race applications, compounds in the high temperature ranges over 1000°F range are usually necessary. Dirt track, drag race, and street performance applications usually operate at temperatures between 500° and 1000°F. Keep in mind that these are general ranges, and not absolute values. Many factors and unforeseen influences can affect brake temperatures. The best indicator for pad selection will always be on track performance. If pad fade (friction loss) due to overheating occurs, then improved cooling, a heavier rotor, or a higher temperature range pad may all become necessary.

Rotor Hats:

Wilwood's new Big Brake Dynamic Lug Drive hats incorporate a new rotor mounting system that eliminates the rotor bolts and allows the rotors to move independently of the hats as they expand and contract through heat cycles. All thermally generated stress is removed from the rotor attachment points. The rotors stay flatter and run truer. Brake response and pedal feel remain consistent. Pad knock back and rotor drag are eliminated. The hats are no longer distorted by stresses generated by thermal expansion and shrinkage of the rotors. All problems associated with thermal distortion, including bolt hole alignment issues when trying to re-install new rotors on a previously used hat, are eliminated.
