After a complete redesign in 2007, the Toyota Tundra received quite significant updates for the following year as well. 13 new models joined the lineup and the list of standard equipment was widened. Now, the Tundra is available in 44 models in total. The base trim level is now available for CrewMax and Double Cab variants, appealing to budget-minded customers. This grade offers all of the key features expected by customers, including 18” wheels, chrome bumper, 4-speaker stereo system, air conditioning, and others. The SR5 trim on 4-door versions now offers heated mirrors, power bucket front seats, cold kit, mud guards, and 6-disc CD charger – all these features were optional for 2007.

The base 2008 Toyota Tundra takes its power from a 4.0 L V6 engine delivering 236 hp. A 4.7 L V8 capable of producing 276 hp is available as an option. The two employ 4-valve cylinder heads along with VVT-i technology, providing responsive power across the operating range. Both power plants are connected to a 5-speed automatic featuring uphill/downhill shift logic. A line-topping option offered for all versions of the Tundra is a 5.7 L V8 generating 381 hp. Specially designed for full-size pickup applications, this power plant utilizes a range of cutting-edge technologies, delivering excellent power and fuel economy and reduced emissions. The engine is directed through a 6-speed automatic.

The 2008 Toyota Tundra delivers a high level of safety. The truck utilizes one of the largest and most sophisticated braking systems in the segment. The diameter of front rotors is 13.9 inches and thickness is 1.26 inches, while for the rear ones these numbers are 13.6 inches and 0.71 inches respectively. ABS featuring brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution is standard for the 2008 Tundra. Brake assist can help you during emergency braking by applying additional braking power in case of need, while EBD optimizes brake pressure at each wheel allowing you to have better control under braking. These features allowed the Tundra to earn the highest possible rating in frontal offset crash testing by the IIHS.
