While features and method of installation vary according to manufacturer and tonneau model, most covers arrive at your door fully assembled. Just position the folded cover on the front of your truck bed and hand tighten the clamps under the bed rails; no wrenches or sockets are needed. Unfold the cover and secure the clamps in the same manner at the rear panel. It’s that simple. These covers are lightweight and installation can typically be handled by one person. Installation of low profile covers that rest on supports attached to the sides of the bed rails is somewhat more involved.

Choose from hard or soft folding covers according to your needs and budget. Economical soft covers have panels constructed from vinyl or vinyl covered fabric over a sturdy metal framework. Hard folding covers are constructed with powder coated or vinyl covered aluminum panels or textured, reinforced, heavy-duty plastic panels. Powder coated and textured plastic hard covers reveal the individual panels, but if you prefer a smooth, uninterrupted look, choose the vinyl covered hard panels. Both hard and soft covers will protect your truck bed and contents from the elements, and because your cargo is concealed they will deter casual, opportunistic thieves. However, a hard panel cover, coupled with your locking tailgate, will provide maximum cargo security.

In addition to ease of installation and premium protection and security, a folding cover offers many other benefits. Most of the time you only need access to a portion of your truck bed, for loading groceries or bags of mulch at the home center. What could be easier than dropping the tailgate and folding over the rear panel? Some of our folding covers also allow just the front panel to be folded back, for convenient access to cargo at the front of the bed or to a bed mounted tool box. One of our most unique tonneau covers is a combination roll up/folding cover that can be rolled up from the rear for complete bed access, but also features a hinged section at the front of the bed that can quickly be folded back for access.

When full bed access is needed, the panels of a folding tonneau cover can be folded and stacked behind the cab, where they are typically secured with straps and hook and loop fastener or quick release buckles. Some covers feature prop rods that hold the panels up behind the rear of the cab, for the most bed access possible. While most folding covers rest on the top of the bed rails, the low profile covers we offer that rest on supports attached to the sides of the bed rails leave the stake holes exposed for tie-down use or for mounting accessories like bed rails or bed racks.
