It was just last year that the Porsche 911 Series underwent the eighth-generation redesign, but the Stuttgart-based automaker is ready to wow the public with stunning new offerings. For 2021, there’s the new top-of-the-line Turbo S model that adds power and performance. The 911 range of iconic sports cars is constantly growing to include exciting new models and the current lineup gets updated with more powerful engines, innovative tech, and fresh styling. All of them are automotive works of art that nevertheless have great potential for customization. Whether you are planning mild tweaks or wild modifications, our selection of 2021 Porsche 911 accessories and parts has something for everyone.
Straight to the point, the all-new 2021 Turbo S model comes with a rear-mounted 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six that puts out 640 hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s not only more than the last-generation GT2 RS. That’s currently more than its closest competitors, namely the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R with its 577 hp that pales in comparison, the R8 by Audi with a 602-hp engine, and even the Lambo’s Huracan Evo that makes a comparable 631 horsepower. The power gain comes courtesy of a combination of improvements, including new air intake parts, bigger turbos, aerodynamically-optimized accessories such as a front spoiler and rear wing, and many more. The flat six is teamed with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive. It rockets the coupe to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, with the convertible being a second slower. Regardless of body style, top speed is 205 mph. To make sure the car stops on a dime, there are carbon-ceramic rotors paired with 10-piston calipers up front.
Some of the Turbo S features are brought down to the lower trim levels. The 2021 Carrera models can now be had in a striking coat of green paint and its seats can be upholstered in leather that replicates that of the original 930 generation. Different glass packages are available, geared toward noise isolation or light weight. The axle lift system now uses GPS allowing the owner to set the locations at which the nose will be raised automatically to handle speed bumps and driveway aprons. The advanced InnoDrive cruise control is also there.
The new Porsche 911 Turbo S got a few cool aerodynamic features that improve downforce by 15% and enhance the sports car's performance in different conditions. For starters, the rear wing is lighter and has a bigger surface area, but the greatest thing about it is that it can be set to three different positions: to deal with daily driving situations, to maximize stability on wet roads, and even to act as an air brake to stop the car from high speeds faster. The front spoiler moves quicker than before thanks to an air compressor operating it. The lip extends at high speeds when maximum downforce is needed and retracts for ease of city driving and parking. Active air flaps up front are a new feature. They automatically adjust depending on the current speed and the systems/driving modes engaged, ensuring the right balance between radiator cooling and downforce.
What about the 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo? With its 3.7-liter flat-six that develops 572 hp and not as hefty of a price as in the case of the Turbo S, it slots between the ultra-powerful S-suffixed variant and the “regular” models whose engines are rated at around 200 hp less. The max speed of the new Turbo is almost as high as that of its more muscular sibling’s and tops out at 198 mph. In fact, the two models have a lot of mechanical similarities and share much of the equipment. Rear-wheel steering, aerodynamic solutions, PASM suspension, and carbon-ceramic brakes are some of the things to mention.
The highly anticipated 911 GT3 makes a return with a bunch of performance improvements. It is powered by a high-revving naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that dishes out 500 hp. Sending that power to the wheels is either a 6-speed manual, this time with rev-matching that can be fully disabled, or a 7-speed PDK. For the first time on a road-legal 911, the GT3 has a multi-link suspension instead of MacPherson struts up front, which improves control in turns. The new 992 is bigger than the previous model without gaining weight thanks to more lightweight materials used throughout the car, including rear glass, frunk lid, and exhaust. Externally, the new large rear wing immediately catches the eye.
The Targa versions of the 911 Series are back for the 2021 model year, available as Targa 4 and 4S models. Both hold the distinction of offering a unique open-air experience and looks thanks to a retractable roof, large rear glass, and a characteristic roof bar. The roof opening and closing process takes 19 seconds. Both cars have a 3.0-liter flat-six that makes 379 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque in the Targa 4, while the 4S ups the horsepower and torque count to 443 hp and 390 lb-ft. In the case of the 4S, engine power can be managed by a 7-speed manual available at no extra cost. “4” in the model name stands for all-wheel drive, with Porsche Traction Management improving grip in hard driving situations.
Porsche has turned up the retro charm of the 4S by introducing the 2021 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. Only 992 models are available, and each and every one of them evokes aspects of Porsche cars from the 50s and 60s nicely integrated into a modern exterior design. They come with a lot of elements that harken back to classic designs, including racing graphics, gold badges, Fuchs-inspired wheels, and the 1963 Porsche crest. The interior impresses with exclusive two-tone color combinations that complement the body paint. Notably, the seat upholstery and door panels have corduroy inserts – it is a vintage material last found in the Porsche 356.
The basic exterior shape and proportions of the 911 remain essentially unchanged for several decades, so the 2021 year model features the same recognizable styling. The iconic round headlights (now featuring LED matrix technology as standard), a curved hood and fenders, and an unmistakable profile create a timeless appearance. Similarly, the interior is a combination of classic and high-tech. The dash design is reminiscent of that of older models, but things like a 10.9-inch touchscreen and dual 7.0-inch digital gauge displays give the cabin a modern vibe. If you are looking to give your car a bit of your own styling treatment, here you’ll find the right 2021 Porsche 911 parts and accessories for any kind of upgrade.
