It allows the SUV to travel for up to 18 miles on electricity and return 45 MPGe combined. However, when the battery is depleted, fuel economy drops to 19 mpg on a combined cycle and 21 mpg on a highway. This is comparable to the non-hybrid V8-equipped model that returns 17 and 23 miles per gallon combined and hwy, respectively.
