Product Details

Standard Plain Brake Rotor by Zimmermann®. As a manufacturer of safety parts Zimmermann is aware of brand's responsibilities and gives precedence to product quality. All the brake discs and brake drums in brand's standard range of wearing parts are manufactured in dimensions and to a material quality specified by the automotive manufacturers. Zimmermann develops own technical solutions for brake discs which are patent protected by the manufacturer. Therefore Zimmermann supplies the aftermarket with an entire product range. Brake discs which are constructed differently to the original discs are certificated.

Installation

Brake discs and brake drums are made out of unmachined castings containing flake graphite (grey cast iron). The configuration of the cast iron is based on the one of the vehicle manufacturer for brake discs. Different ingredients are added on the basic material, in order to influence positively the properties of cast iron for durability and machining. Supplements in the iron alloy like e.g. copper, molybdenum, titanium and carbon are analyzed in the OE discs and are also used for the Zimmermann discs. Therefore cast material for each individual brake disc of Zimmermann matches with the OE parts.

Over the last few years, an increasing number of brake discs, which are not identical to the respective original part in terms of their design and function, have been sold on the market. Tests have revealed, that basic material specifications in particular, but also changes to tolerances result in deformations and increased cracking of brake discs. Otto Zimmermann GmbH has been performing inertia dynamometer tests and driving tests together with TÜV NORD Mobilität GmbH & Co. KG on an ongoing basis for more than 10 years, at great financial cost. On the basis of these tests, we are able to offer the free spare parts market qualitatively equivalent spare parts.

Zimmermann brake discs are "spare parts of the same quality" as original brake discs. The third-country brake discs tested by TÜV NORD do not fulfill this demand. In all the brake discs tested, third-country products break considerably more quickly. The Zimmermann brake disc and the original product therefore have a significantly longer life expectancy. The thermo-mechanical deformation is identical for the Zimmermann brake disc and the original brake disc. The third-country brake disc falls significantly below this level with respect to nearly all the criteria tested.

Wished They Were Drilled and Vented
I really thought I was purchasing drilled and vented rotors because of the picture. I really should have read that they were just vented. Too bad a actual picture wasn’t shown. Other than that these rotors are great. Do you have drilled and vented rotors in this same size. I might consider buying a new set to match my front rotors.

Fantastic Rotors; Better Than OEM
I just put these rotors on my daughter's S40. Why? I put Zimmermann rotors on my wife's S70 back in 2005 with 56,000 miles on it. Yes, the OEM Volvo rotors were shot! It is now 2015, my wife now has 210,000 miles on her S70, and the 2005 rotors are still going strong with 154,000 miles on them. I have never had to turn them. I have been running PBR Metal Master pads with them. What a great braking combo these make. Unfortunately, I do not believe you can get Metal Master pads any longer. I matched up the new Zimmermann rotors on my daughter's S40 with EBC "Red Stuff" ceramic pads. After the initial seating/break-in, they seem to be working great together. I have used the "Green Stuff" pads on my Isuzu Rodeo and have had great results, so I anticipate similar results with the red ones. Just a bit more history. Before the Zimmermann's, I tried Power Slot rotors on the S40. The rear rotors are fine, but the front rotors were a nightmare. After turning them a half dozen times, they went in the recycle bin.

Absolutely Love This Rotor
These rotors are high quality. The look amazing and fit very nicely. I think these are a solid replacement for the OEM rotors. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a high quality disk pads at a reasonable price. These have to be one of the better "bang for your buck" on the market.
