Custom wheels have been massively popular since the mid-1990s as a rebellion against the dominance of dull plastic wheel covers on boring steel rims. The revival was favored by advancements in the industry, which have made the building processes easier and the wheels more affordable. Custom rims come in a plethora of choices these days and are available in different types, each carrying specific characteristics to fit certain applications. Chrome wheels can add posh styling to luxury sedans, trucks and SUVs; black ones can nicely complement any body color; while no resto-mod or hot rod project can do without the appropriate retro wheels.
Steel wheels are built through stamping and welding together two sections. The way they are made allows for little styling flexibility, but the construction is strong and durable. Aluminum alloys go through casting or forging techniques, with the latter resulting in lighter and more rigid rims. Flow forging represents the middle ground. While being not as expensive as forging, this technique allows for creating products of similar strength thanks to forming rollers that apply pressure. We have a huge assortment of 14-inch custom wheels, ranging from classic models like the legendary Torq Thrust by American Racing, to modern designs like those by Foose. These and other models are available in a variety of configurations, including chrome, satin or matte black, or gloss gunmetal; finally, lip and inserts can be milled, polished, or machined, further increasing the number of the available options.
