If you’ve got a classic car and you’re looking for the right factory wheels or a set of aftermarket wheels that were popular back in the day, don’t waste your time scouring swap meets and responding to classified ads. Of course, our classic and retro wheels come in all the right widths, offsets, and 14” and 15” rim diameters that enable fitment to classic cars using original size tires. But on our digital shelves you’ll also find many classic and retro styles in 17” diameters and larger, and with wider widths and different offsets. This will allow you to have the old school looks that you want for your classic and run modern low-profile tires that can help your car handle better. The shorter sidewalls of low profile tires are stiffer and don’t flex as much, so you may experience more responsive steering. And the selection of high performance tires, with their superior construction and tread design, and stickier rubber compound, is much greater for 17” and larger diameters. Going to a larger size wheel isn’t the only way you can have those cool traditional looks and at the same time upgrade your classic car. While most of our classic and retro wheels have the same steel or cast aluminum alloy construction as the original versions, albeit using modern methods of manufacture, we also offer many timeless classic wheel replicas and classic inspired designs in forged aluminum. The forging process starts with a solid chunk of premium aluminum billet, which is heated and forced into shape using extreme pressure, and then finish machined to its final form. Forging compresses the metal so it is very dense, resulting in a wheel that is exceptionally stiff and strong, but also very light. Lightweight wheels mean less unsprung weight and rotational mass. The suspension doesn’t have to work as hard, and you can experience more responsive steering, faster braking and quicker acceleration.
