Wheel Mate® - Cone Seat Lug Nuts for Factory Wheels

Be careful with these and use a rubber insert or the finish will come off and no, that lug tool does not have an insert so I did remove some finish from the lugs. The tool is because the lugs are smaller nuts. I like em so don't care but some of you may get bummed out.

I bough them in hopes that the paint would not chip. This is not the case, very flakey, color is also not very vibrant.

First, as an acorn type lug nut, these are great. The taper area is perfect for aftermarket wheel lug nut seats unlike some aftermarket ones that are too small to be safe. On to my take on the black chrome version. I have had other black chromed items and these are way too transparent to be a true black chrome. Since black chrome is achieved by coating a chrome base with a transparent smoke tint, how much tint determines how dark the black chrome is. Make sense? Well, on the Monster 33006T ones, the smoke tint is so thin, the lug nuts appear almost brown versus smokey grey. The pictures provided by Wheel Mate are not representative of what you will get. As far as durability, using the supplied lug socket and being very careful when putting it over the hand tightened lugs still created some scratching on the black chrome. PROS: Fitment, value/cost, tuner looks, safetly - was able to torque to factory 140 lb-ft. CONS: Black chrome not very dark, finish not very durable. OVERALL: Great lug nuts if you are after any other color than black chrome. But I would imagine other than black, silver or chrome all the other finishes are transparent color over chrome. So I would expect the same scratching of the color when installing.
