VIS Racing® 08MTLAN4DEVX-010C - EVO 10 Style Carbon Fiber Hood

VIS Carbon Fiber Hoods are made from 100% ISO-certified, Grade-A carbon fiber material. All VIS Carbon Fiber Hoods and Trunks are manufactured using a two-part construction design. The top layer is composed of carbon fiber material bonded to the hood surface with high-grade epoxy resin, and finished with an ultra-clear (Poly Shield), UV-protective polyurethane coating for a high gloss finish. A one-piece, smooth underside shell is fused to the top layer enhancing the product's structural integrity. The edges are smoothed by hands to ensure good quality finish all around. VIS Racing transitioning full spectrum of carbon parts to use the VIP process so that customers can enjoy these improved products without incurring a huge cost increase.

Initially, carbon fiber (aka carbon) features high strength-to-weight ratio and outstanding rigidity. The material is also referred to as graphite-reinforced polymer (aka graphite fiber-reinforced polymer – GFRP), which is less common as it clashes with either glass-reinforced or glass-fiber-reinforced polymer. In commercials, it's sometimes referred to simply as graphite fiber. Improved manufacturing techniques reduce the costs and time to produce, making the compound common in small consumer goods such as tripods, hockey sticks, fishing rods, paintball and archery equipment, tent poles, drum shells, helmets used as a paragliding accessory, just to name a few. Notwithstanding its relatively expensive cost, carbon fiber is extensively used in aerospace and automotive fields, including Formula One Racing.
