It is fair to call the Toyota Tundra a truly American pickup truck. It was designed, marketed and assembled in the USA and has never been made in Japan. The manufacturing process also differs from other carmakers’ approach, since Tundras are not made in batches, each model is built to order. Plus, the welding and paint job is entirely automated, since there are around 400 robots which do over 90% of this job by themselves. It is curious that Tundras are made upside down. This way, the frame-connected components, such as suspension and wiring, are installed in the first place, and only when it is time to install the body on the chassis, the vehicle is flipped over.
